Driving Up Standards in the School Bus Industry

The Teamsters Union represents 75,000 school bus and transit workers — more than any other union! More than 35,000 school bus drivers, monitors, aides, attendants and mechanics have joined the Teamsters since 2006, when we kicked off our Drive Up Standards campaign to raise standards in the school bus industry. More bus workers are joining the movement every day.

Teamster drivers can be found at the nation’s leading school bus companies, including First Student, Durham School Services, Cook-Illinois, STA, Baumann, Illinois Central and more. By securing strong Teamster contracts, bus workers have been able to drive up standards throughout the industry. Just some of the many improvements include better pay, job security, health care, newer and safer equipment, more time off, respect and the protection of the Teamsters’ powerful grievance procedure.
