Children of Teamster members have until June 15 to enter the James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship Fund Essay Contest, which gives students the opportunity to win one of 200 $1,000 awards. In 2015, applicants are asked to share their thoughts on this topic: “What impact would an increase in union membership have on the U.S. economy and the middle class?”
Applicants must be the son, daughter or financial dependent of an eligible Teamster member. Essays should be 500 words or less and type written. Those applying also must fill out an application. In total, $1 million in Hoffa scholarships will be awarded this year. This year’s recipients of the James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship Fund’s 2015-2016 college scholarships will be announced this summer. For details, visit Teamster.org or call (202) 624-7471.
