The James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship Fund is an independent organization established solely to provide scholarships to the child or dependent of a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, and contributions to the Fund are deductible as charitable contributions to the extent permitted by law. In 2015 the Fund plans to award $1,000,000 in scholarships.

Essay Contest »
Children of Teamster members have until June 15 to enter the James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship Fund Essay Contest, which gives students the opportunity to win one of 200 $1,000 awards. In 2015, applicants are asked to share their thoughts on this topic: “What impact would an increase in union membership have on the U.S. economy and the middle class?”
Applicants must be the son, daughter or financial dependent of an eligible Teamster member. Essays should be 500 words or less and type written. Those applying also must fill out an application. In total, $1 million in Hoffa scholarships will be awarded this year. This year’s recipients of the James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship Fund’s 2015-2016 college scholarships will be announced this summer. For details, visit Teamster.org or call (202) 624-7471.

Teamsters Joint Council 25 Women’s Committee Scholarship Program »
The Teamsters Joint Council 25 Women’s Committee scholarship program is aimed at assisting Teamsters who are continuing their education. The Women’s Committee awards five $1,000 scholarships each year to members who demonstrate a desire to excel and reach their education goals.
“The Women’s Committee has made a strong commitment to the continued education of Teamster women, and this scholarship program is a direct result of that commitment,” said Maggie Jenkins, President of the Women’s Committee. The Women’s Committee brings together representatives from each Joint Council 25 affiliate to strengthen communication and leadership opportunities for women throughout our union.
